“Life is like cycling …..it never gets easier – you just get faster!”
"We had an excellent day whizzing around Essex on the bikes and benefited a great deal as a team. My overall team building objectives were all met so thank you." Buck Consultants - Mellon Bank
The Bicycle Challenge
Treasure hunts are enormous fun and for many treasure hunts on bikes are even better!
There’s absolutely NO fitness requirement and enjoyment, teamwork and safety are the only priorities.
Riding a bike allows you and your team to explore and experience an area fast yet in a way that allows you to appreciate your surroundings.
There’s a huge sense of achievement having completed this challenge and to win your team will need to be creative, cunning and competitive.
How it Works
We start by dividing the group into teams. Once teams are allocated the whole group is introduced to their bikes and the Poisson Rouge team will deliver a short but essential safety briefing where compulsory helmets and Hi-Viz bands are handed out.
For those who are less confident we offer a quick ‘update’ session allowing individuals to try out their bikes in a safe environment – to get their ‘bike legs‘ backs and ask questions of our bike leaders (each team will have a Poisson Rouge bike leader accompanying them throughout the event)
Following the Bicycle Challenge briefing – each team is handed a Poisson Rouge rucksack containing some or all of the following……
- Wide format Polaroid type (fuji instax) instant camera
- 4g Ipad tablet with unlimited data
- Clue sheets
We also equip all the teams with their bikes. The bikes we use are hybrid mountain / road bikes and / or where available and where requested we also offer electric bikes (which are totally unique and exhilarating.)
Before setting off each team must first plan their route and work out which clues to go after and which to leave because there is always more to do than can be achieved in the time given.
Teams collect points by visiting places in the challenge and then photographing key landmarks, finding clues and completing strategic and often creative tasks (i.e. create the best album cover you can involving a fountain!!!).
Cryptic clues, problem-solving puzzles. writing poems, map reading, general knowledge, scavenge retrieval, film making ….all play their part.
The event ends at a predetermined venue (usually a pub or hotel) where teams can compare notes – answers are marked and prizes are awarded (and for those who are not driving – a well earned or drink or two)
Bicycle challenges can last a half day or a full day.
